Shop With a Boss is TEEDC’s signature financial literacy and mentorship experience. For nine years, it has connected students with business and community leaders through hands-on learning that builds confidence, dignity, and real-world decision-making skills.

What began as a local experience has grown into a multi-city initiative—expanding in 2025 to Miami Gardens and Orlando—while staying rooted in access, mentorship, and meaningful connection.

Shop With a Boss pairs students with business and community leaders for a guided shopping experience focused on budgeting, choice-making, generosity, and confidence. Students learn by doing—asking questions, making decisions, and building relationships that leave a lasting impression.
This experience goes beyond money. It helps students feel seen, supported, and capable.

Shop With a Boss is made possible through partnerships with businesses, organizations, and leaders who believe in empowering young people through education and mentorship. Together, we create meaningful experiences that students remember—and lessons they carry forward.

Each Shop With a Boss experience is supported at $100 per student, with a minimum of 100 students served per location. This funding goes directly to students, allowing them to participate in the guided shopping experience—practicing budgeting, decision-making, and generosity in a real-world setting.

In recognition of its impact and continued commitment to youth empowerment, Shop With a Boss was officially proclaimed by the City of Hollywood, Florida, designating the first Saturday in December as “Shop With a Boss Day.” This milestone reflects the program’s lasting influence and the community’s belief in its mission.

EXPANDING THE IMPACT
THIS YEAR & BEYOND
In 2025, Shop With a Boss expanded beyond its original community with the launch of Shop With a Boss Miami Gardens and Shop With a Boss Orlando, allowing TEEDC to reach more students while staying true to the values that have shaped the program from the beginning—dignity, mentorship, access, and opportunity.

As the program continues to grow, each year’s experience evolves to meet students where they are and respond to the needs of the communities we serve. This year, Shop With a Boss features dedicated mentors paired with students, intentional financial learning moments, thoughtful, age-appropriate engagement, and a strong focus on confidence, choice, and connection.
